Meeting with NA Deputy Arman Yeghoyan: 2023 Parliamentary Internship and Fellowship Programme Continues

The involvement of young people in political life of Armenia is very important. What you are doing now requires political knowledge and political way of thinking, it is important to be a political person when making political decisions: the Chair of the NA Standing Committee on European Integration, the deputy of the Civil Contract Faction Arman Yeghoyan said at the meeting with the participants of the Parliamentary Internship and Fellowship 2023 programme undergoing a probation period in Parliament on June 9.

The programme began on March 1, 2023. The 27 participating interns carry out a number of parliamentary works, including media monitoring, organize community visits with the MPs, provide consultations, carry out studies and analyses of international experience, do translations, help the MPs successfully organize foreign visits.

During the meeting, the deputy introduced the activity of the Committee, its main functions, presented issues regarding the implementation of the EU-Armenia Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement, as well as the work done by the Committee with the EU bodies.

The interns inquired about the process of visa liberalization, spoke about the problems encountered in obtaining a Schengen entry permit in Armenia, raised questions about the foreign strategy and parliamentary diplomacy of the RA, and expressed concern about threats to the country’s security.

Arman Yeghoyan also touched upon the issues of developing and expanding the existing business environment and investment opportunities for the companies of Armenia and the European Union in the field of bilateral trade liberalisation services and underlined that the EU and Armenia are deepening the cooperation between the relevant systems year by year and strive to increase the level of mutual understanding.

The participants highlighted the implementation of community events organized by the EU delegation in the RA within the framework of Cultural and Public Diplomacy, which are meant to promote cultural development and recognition in non-cultural communities.

Let’s remind that the ten-month programme is financed by the US Agency for International Development (USAID) and is implemented as a result of cooperation of the National Democracy Institute (NDI) and the National Assembly.

The trainings and parliamentary meetings organized by the National Democracy Institute (NDI) and the National Assembly for the interns help to fulfill their duties and develop their professional qualities.
